Judging Criteria

For those of you who aren't familiar with our judging criteria, below is some information aimed to help all you riders get the highest scores possible.

“A Flowboarder must perform radical controlled maneuvers in the critical section of a wave with Speed, Power and Flow to maximize scoring potential. Innovative / Progressive Flowboarding as well as Variety of Repertoire ( maneuvers ), will be taken into consideration when rewarding points for waves ridden.
The Flowboarder who executes this criteria with the maximum Degree of Difficulty and Commitment on the waves shall be rewarded with the highest scores."

- You will get a maximum of 3 rides per heat, with each ride being 45 sec. long.  4 rides in the final. (Subject to change)

- You will get scored on your best 2 rides out of your 3 or 4.

- The categories below will reflect the rider's final score. The judges will be using the followng Four categories, so the rider MUST stick to this criteria in which they will be judged on.

DIFFICULTY:
This category will be judged entirely on the difficulty of the maneuvers/tricks performed throughout your entire run. The more difficult it is, the more points you will get. This includes where on the wave you perform your tricks.

VARIETY:
This category is judged on the number of different and unique maneuvers/tricks you do
through-out your run. You will get scored lower if you keep on repeating the same maneuver/trick over. The judges want to see VARIETY.

EXECUTION:
You will be judged on how you execute/land your maneuvers/tricks. The cleaner you land it, the higher your score will be, BUT ,  this includes the difficulty of the maneuver/trick. If you are landing an average maneuver/trick really clean, then you will get an average score, if you are landing a difficult trick very clean, then you will get a high score.

OVERALL IMPRESSION:
This category is judged on how well you use the FlowRider®, how you link your maneuver/tricks together and how you use your time. You will get a higher score if you start your run with a difficult maneuver/trick and continue to link your turns and make use of the entire FlowRider. You must look COMFORTABLE.
